It's the end of July and 60 degrees outside. It feels like fall and it makes me want to do nothing but lounge around in cozy sweaters and drink pumpkin spice coffee all day.

This is really, truly, all I want out of life and realizing that sort of scares me a little bit because I don't know if it will actually ever happen. I just want to photograph people and make photo books all day and live in a house full of light with the love of my life.

Little things, simple things, are sometimes the scariest.

(And that's okay, right?)

definition of beauty

"If the definition of beauty gets any thinner, no one will fit."

I bought this shirt a few years ago and I always get compliments on it when I wear it. Today I cut the collar and the sleeves off and I like it a lot more. Summer 2013 seems to be the summer of cutting up my tshirts.

 He loves me so much, he takes pictures when he doesn't want to... and leaves the house for me, even when he really doesn't want to. And I love him for that, forever.

i will never tire of waking up next to this man every morning, a sleepy “good morning" and the feeling of skin on skin as he wraps his arms around me. those last few minutes before we get up for the day are my favourite.

hey burlington

My trip home started with a confusing trip to Children's where Noelle had Sage. I got lost and ended up at the staff entrance to the maternity wing and had to turn around and start all over again. But it was worth it, because meeting the little guy and seeing my best friend always trumps the frustration with Milwaukee traffic and navigating giant, confusing hospitals by myself.

When I got home, I helped my mom water her flowers and got to take my annual pictures of my grandma's clematis plant. The original plan was to make burgers and BBQ chicken on the grill, but we ran out of gas so had to move it inside. My "brothers" (the dog & the cat) were very happy to see me.

This little bugger. I love him to death, but when I got home, my mom handed him to me and he bit me square in the nose.

Bryce and I hung out Wednesday night and made a traditional Kenosha run. We went to Superb and smelled incense and talked to the girls working there. Then we went to IHOP for coffee, chicken, and waffles and made a mountain of creamer and sugar packets.

After Kenosha, we went to Walmart because neither of us felt like going home quite yet.

(And really, what is a trip home without a Walmart trip?)

Thursday I went to see my padre and I visited my grandma before getting back on the road to Waupaca. I visited Adrian's and gave hugs to all my former coworkers and then forgot my quart of Pistachio Almond at home. I had to stop in one of my favourite parks to take my 365 too.

It felt good to go home, just to see everyone, but Burlington doesn't really feel like home anymore. It's familiar, a reminder of where I grew up and where I came from... but it didn't feel the same to go back this time. This is probably how I should have felt when I came home from Savannah, or at least it feels similar to what my friends have told me about when they come home from college. It's weird to say that Waupaca feels like home now... but it's true. And it feels very good.

Sage Lucas entered the world on July 16th, 2013 at 8:34 AM. 7lbs, 13.2 oz, 20.5 inches long.

I'm a proud Auntie and best friend. I love both Noelle and Sage dearly and it made me so happy to see them both healthy and well yesterday.

wednesday adventures

Today Justin and I went to his parents land on the Wolf River. I love it when Justin takes me to places he visited a lot as a child... It's like I see a whole new side of him. I love listening to the stories he can tell me and the way his face lights up through the memories.

Surprise! Last week I dyed my hair red again. I missed it so much.

And, gasp, Justin understands how to use my camera.

On our way home, we stopped at a cute little drive in in Weyauwega for dinner. Nothing beats drive-in/diner food. And the root beer floats we had for dessert could even rival Adrian's!

My tripod should be here within the next couple of days, so I'll be back to regular blogging soon!
