the sun is deceiving

It’s cold. Like we got 11 inches of snow yesterday and now Mother Nature is handing us -50° wind chills coming tomorrow and Thursday. The sun makes everything bearable at least. Today was for running errands and tomorrow is for doctors appointments and blood draws. Slowly but surely, we are inching toward spring.

cozy vibes

Saturday. Fresh snow. Morning golden hour. -5° wind chill. Two cups of coffee, a new sweater, season 2 finale of Grey’s, and knitting until my hands hurt. A good freaking day in my book.

sunrise, sunrise

I had to go the clinic to get blood drawn this morning and saw the prettiest peek of the sun trying to come out through the clouds. It's amazing how much you can get done if you leave the house at the time you're normally just waking up and getting out of bed. I ran to DG for a few things and went to McDonald's for breakfast because getting poked with a needle = treat yo'self in my books. Cleared out the ol' inbox when I got home and now I'm in the beginning stages of trying to form an email list! I feel so excited and honestly so much joy about getting back to working and being productive again. It's the best feeling to be doing what I love.

take me away to january

So far, January has involved freezing all my car doors shut, pretty blue skies, and parking lot rainbows. I started watching Great British Baking Show on Netflix and literally dreamed about choux pastry last night, haha. (Usually when I watch British TV shows, I end up dreaming in British accents too... aka, the last time I watched Skins.) I'm taking the rest of this week to plan a couple of things. A new blog series I'm starting on my website featuring local wedding vendors, and I miiiiiight do an Instagram giveaway to hopefully book some more wedding couples this year. This time of year always feels so redeeming because the possibilities are endless at the start of something. That's what makes January so special in the first place.

one little word in 2019 & thoughts on intent

HELLO 2019! New year, new hair, new glasses—same old me. I was itching for a change just in time for New Year's. My One Little word in 2018 was Intent and I think I met it pretty well. I invested in a planner that I love that helps me a) keep track of my routine and day-to-day life and b) plan projects and take lots of notes during business meetings and inquiry calls. I quit my day job to pursue photography, something I have been dreaming about since high school. Intent helped me do that by piggybacking on Care, my word 2017. Together they helped me to set and enforce boundaries that allowed me to really sit down and figure out what I want my life to be. I can also say that Intent helped me to form a weekly routine and a sort-of concrete work schedule, which I've never really had before.

Going from working fast-food to working for myself, I've noticed a major drop in how many steps I take every day. So, in 2019, I want to MOVE more. Which I hope will look something this: More dance parties. More yoga. More walks. More adventures. (Which means more blog content!) The goal is really just to not spend all day every day shut in the house because I work for myself. ;)

I hope I can harness Intent again to create a habit and use Move to actually follow through. Here's to more adventures in 2019!
