iPhone diary: laundry day

Laundromats are very special to me. I hate doing laundry (folding socks is the worst), but I love the laundromat. I love the big windows and the quiet of folding clothes. Laundromat pictures will always make me feel something, a nostalgia of sorts for childhood and my dad.

Hopefully I'll have a new tripod and remote in the next week or so, and things will get back to normal around here.

Week 30/52!

July 20, 2014

mixed media

This reminds me of the lines series I did during my last 365 attempt in 2013. (one, two, three) I bought a $2 watercolour paint set from Dollar General and I've been painting instead of taking pictures lately. My tripod got stolen out of my car, so outfit posts will be scarce for a little while until I get a new one.

week 28

Typical morning photo. Still on the hunt for stuff for the gallery wall. Still on the hunt for more pretty things for the bookshelf. Because of car show, this week kinda kicked my butt, and I know next week will be better.

Week 28/52

femme fatale

Crop top: Human apparel, Vest, Skirt, Shoes: Thrifted, Necklace: Deb

Just because I'm feminine doesn't mean I'm not a feminist.

I apparently have a thing for pleated skirts lately. I like to think of this black skirt as the companion to my red one. I found it while thrifting this week and fell in love. I apparently also have a thing for crop tops this summer, and this one is my favourite. I bought it in February after seeing it on Tumblr and I always feel so empowered when I wear it.

It's car show weekend so I pretty much sold my soul to Hardee's. 52 week picture will be up eventually. Have a good weekend!

on my walk

I love living in a small town. I love that Waupaca has the same quaintness that Burlington does. Small town living will always be the niche that I fit into-- it's how I grew up, it's what I know how to do. I try to support mom and pop shops whenever I can because yay small business. So I took a walk down Main St. and strolled through the community garden and took selfies in shop windows because it's what I do best.

i love: mornings

This year, I became a coffee drinker. I also became a morning person. I relish that hour I get to myself sitting on the floor in my bedroom drinking my coffee and watching the sky change before I get ready to start my day, whether that means getting ready for work or going to run errands. It's absolutely quiet save the ticking of the clock on my bookshelf and the gurgling of my coffee maker.
Three days a week, I have rituals that all happen over my morning coffee. Sundays, I read PostSecret, which is something I've been doing every Sunday since middle school. Every Monday morning, I receive the Monday email from Hannah Brencher which is always a good pep talk to start my week on the right foot. Wednesday morning coffee always calls for Elise's podcast, Elise Gets Crafty--perfect creative, small business related talk to keep my creative mind moving.
If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen all the coffee pictures. I try to snap a picture somewhere in the span of my two cups of coffee, and I'm planning on making them all into a coffee table book at the end of the year.

Mornings really are my fave.

Coffee maker: Gift from Justin's mom (similar), Coffee canister, JCPenney camera, Yaschica full automatic camera, flower vase, "For yesterday is but a dream..." art: Thrifted, Glitter balls: Pick N' Save last Christmas, Anscoflex camera: Gift from my mom's boyfriend, Dried flowers: #onmywalk memorabilia, Flower mug: Found at a rummage sale, Clock: Justin's, 14000 things to be happy about, Revolutionary Road, Tomorrow  (links throughout are affiliate so if you purchase something I receive a small commission)

making me happy

This is a new series I think might start happening monthly or every other month here on the blog. Inspired 100% by Elise, here are some snippets of things that have been making me happy lately.

DAISIES! They're my favourite flower (and my birth month flower), and summer always means we are drowning in them for a couple of months. My grandma used to have a bed of daisies in her garden and they were my favourite flower to photograph whenever I could.

Receiving mail from my best friends, whether it's in card/letter form or in the form of awesome art that I can hang on the gallery wall above my bookshelves in the bedroom.

These illustrations by Brazillian graphic designer Carol Rossetti. I'm always on the hunt for empowering feminist words-drawings-stuff.

Special K Chocolatey Delight cereal. It's the perfect amount of chocolate for when my sweet tooth hits either late at night or when I get up in the morning. I will always have a love affair with cereal.

Good Will books! I can wander Good Will for hours and hours and hours, and I usually spend most of my time pouring over the book section. The entirety of my to read pile is composed of books found at Good Will (book report coming as soon as I finish them, honest ;) )

July 07, 2014

self portrait therapy

Shirt, Shoes, Necklace: Thrifted, Jeans, Vest: Old Navy

Simple, simple. My days have on and off. I'm exhausted and still trying to break ground on the vast subject of "What do I want to do with my life?" Things are getting there. Hope you guys had an awesome holiday weekend!

July 06, 2014

rooftop view

I had to work on the 4th of July, but got done right as the fireworks were starting. I got permission to go on the roof from my manager and the view of fireworks was almost non-existent, but the views of town from up there were pretty awesome.

Week 27/52

July 04, 2014

red, white & blue

Tank (tied as crop top), Skirt, Mocs: Thrifted, Vest: Old Navy, Necklace: Deb

Happy 4th of July! I'm spending the day working (what else is new?) but I hope you all have a lovely celebration... and go watch some fireworks for me.

July 02, 2014

cloud watching

For the my seventh birthday, my parents surprised me with a trampoline. They set it up while I was at school one day and I couldn't even begin to contain my excitement when I got out of the car and saw it sitting in the backyard. The trampoline became my number one source of entertainment after school and that summer until we had to get rid of it. All the girls in my class came over and we jumped on the trampoline at my birthday party. When it got hot outside, my cousins and I would beg my grandma to set up the sprinkler underneath it so we could put our swim suits on and jump to our heart's content. Even better than the jumping though were the times of solitary quiet, when I used to lay out on the trampoline and watch the clouds go by.

Now sometimes, I lay on my bedroom floor right in front of the window and watch them float along. I'm still fascinated by the shapes and whisps and shadows they create. These pictures were all taken from my bedroom window over the span of about 3 months, starting from one of the first nice days in April where I was able to open the windows and sit and look at the sky with my coffee one morning to July 1, where I was laying on the floor in my bedroom sky watching and liked the cloud shape enough to take a photo. I love the way these look in a grid, and if I ever get my life together enough to do Project Life I think this would look awesome as an insert.

Happy cloud watching!

happy july!

Happy July everyone. I'm excited for this month! I get to experiment with the red, white and blue in my closet, watch fireworks, my nephew turns one (!!!), there's a car show in Iola in a couple of weeks, and hopefully adventures with Justin will resume this month.

What are you guys excited for in July?
